Another most worst disaster was happened on May 9th, 2001 when the soccer clubs Hearts of Oak Sporting Club and Asante Kotoko were playing at Accra Sports Stadium. When Hearts of Oak won the match by 2-1. The fans of defeated team Kotoko started throwing seats and other objects onto the pitch. The police tried to control the whole situation and fired tear gas and rubber bullets. This action made the situation more panic and complicated. In a result people crushed when they rush through the exit blindly. 127 people were died in a result and more than 200 were injured.
