Obdulio Varela is the man who played a vital role in successes and achievements of his team Uruguay. He was a greatest captain in football history who did not face a single defeat at the 1950 World Cup in Brazil. At end of the event the final of the tournament was considered a foregone conclusion to many. The Uruguayan FA were very fearful of humiliation and had even warned the players to just avoid all kind of embarrassment. Told them “Four is acceptable.” But Varela refused to accept such an attitude and also rallied his troops,He told them to forget what they had just heard, to ignore the 170,000 Brazil fans in the stands, he gave a remarkable advice to others to play their own game the only way they knew how. His name will also remain alive in football history in golden words. He was really a great captain who did not play for any revenue, he just played for the victory of his team.
