He is the player who spent his childhood in a age of serious wars. He was a child when the Croatian War of independence broke out in the year 1991. There was a great conflict in the society. Just after six months his grandfather was murdered. Modric spent his childhood in many tragedies, but he also had very interest in football. In refugee camp he just passed his time by kicking the balls. His skills were remarkable and he had the abilities to become a professional footballer. So, as war ended he was eventually enter in childhood club Hajduk Split.
