As many as 20,000 fans packed into Piazza San Carlo to watch Juventus play Real Madrid in the Champions League final

A firecracker explosion sparked wild panic at a Champions League fan zone in Turin causing chaos and minor injuries.

Video footage shows Juventus fans running away from Piazza San Carlo where as many as 20,000 supporters were watching the Champions League final.

The bang was caused by firecrackers going off deep within the crowd during the latter stages of the game between Juventus and Real Madrid.

A number of supporters suffered minor injuries, but this is believed to be down to the stampede caused by the explosion.

A number of pictures have emerged showing the true devastation caused by the stampede.

One woman can be seen with a nasty looking head wound while a younger gentleman is seen assessing a knee injury.

Another younger lady is seen being carried away from the scene.
